It takes tact to hold your head up and take the high road. Usually that’s the one less traveled.
I’m sure you thought I would get on here and say something about having grace for others, but that’s simply not the case for this article. In this moment I want to talk about leading in grace for if no one but yourself. Life can have so many twists and turns and people don’t make it easy…AT ALL...
So how do we navigate when we start to feel angry or embittered or frustrated? Do we get our typing fingers ready to run to Facebook or Instagram or any other social media platform? Do we sit and let it fester and wait until we’re face-to-face to fuss out the person that were upset with? Or do we lead in Grace? Now, when you say grace you can think of many different things. But leading in Grace or being graceful in the way you approach things is all about seeking God first and hearing what he has to say and doing just that. Am I talking about turning the other cheek when someone wrongs you, not necessarily. What I’m talking about is there’s a way to approach situations where you can still keep your name good. There’s a time and place for everything. And usually social media is not the time or the place. What I’ve noticed is we, yes I said we, as humans can be so ready to go and defend our title! And we do it in some of the most uncanny ways. This can look like subliminal messaging or doing something that may rub someone the wrong way and you know it. And so much more! What I’ve been thinking about lately is that there are some people out there who will wait on you to give them the fuel for YOUR fire. What that means is not everybody is rooting for you. Not everybody is on your team. So when you give into that human sense of defense it allows for people to have a say in how the outcome will be. When we give people the opportunity to be on the SIDE SHOW of our lives, we can’t help but see why they would have a reason to give input, criticism, and even gossip about your situation.
Leading in grace says that I am in full control of my emotions in the moment. Leading in Grace says that I have consulted with God and he has the final say. Leading with Grace says that sometimes I get it all wrong. And leading in Grace says that for myself when I do get it wrong I am humble enough to right those wrongs. Leading in grace says I will not give in to communal gossip. Leading in grace says I will not give into the Temptations of posting my every whim and feeling.
