In life, there will be moments where we feel unsettled. I could imagine many people have felt that way lately. I even find myself feeling that way from time to time. Like things just don’t add up or make sense.
In Jeremiah 29, the Lord was encouraging his people to become settled where they were. They were not in the best of circumstances but his encouragement to them was simply this, just because things look bleak, does not mean they will be bleak. He encouraged them to keep moving forward, keep working and keep building.
Your circumstance does not have to dictate your outcome. You can still be strong, have peace and do the things you know you were purposed for! You may need to get creative and adjust to your situation but you don’t have to give up.
Even in this, the lord encouraged his people to carefully create. Being careful of what they accept into their atmosphere and careful of what they put out. I can imagine a space where you are trying to make do with what you have all the while, trying to plan for the future. It takes determination and dedication. Praying consistently about those things God promised you and reminding yourself that God is still good, even in the midst of a struggle. Be careful who you tell those dreams too. You don’t want to allow people to dim the light that you fought so hard for.
When we come to Jeremiah 29:11 Christ says this to his people,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Yes! Hope and a Future, even with what you are dealing with. Even at the worst of times for you. There is still hope and there is still a future. Always remember that. Christ does not set us up for failure. He directs us. He keeps us and he has a plan laid out for our success.
From time to time, this journey leaves us questioning that. But we stand knowing the promises of our Lord. We KNOW that all things work together. We KNOW that we are the head and not the tail. This journey requires that we continually remind ourselves and others of this very thing. It can be a rough journey if we just guess and don’t know. Christ laid out directions in his word. This is our map for this beautiful journey of life.
