Today, I found myself going through old notes of unfinished thoughts. That’s when one thought really struck me and I would love to share with you!
I was writing about pressure and how it is often times mistaken for pain. I know during these times, I can’t be the only one feeling the pressure! There is a quote that says, “Get up, Dress up, Show up and never Give up.” Sometimes when we are pressured, we feel the urge to just give up and walk away.
Not all pressure is good pressure and not all pressure is bad. Some pressure is necessary to move us to the next phase in life. God’s pressure, works out any “kinks” we may have. It brings out the obstructions in our life and clears our pathway.
Sometimes, we hold the pressure because we know that when it leaves, so does our situation. We can become so comfortable in life as we know it that we become comfortable with the pressure and lack the desire to grow.
Genesis 32: 22 refers to the instance where Jacob wrestled with God. He had become comfortable in running, in life as he knew it. But God wanted better for him. So Jacob wrestled until he could no more. He saw that even though he was fearful, wrong, hurting, life was much better when he gave those pressures to Christ.
God promises that even when we have struggled, been wrong or wronged, he still has promised us an abundant life. And when we feel that life has passed us by, he extends his promise to cover the lost time.
Joel 2:25-27
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm[b]— my great army that I sent among you. 26 You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. 27 Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.
In this time, do not be afraid that time has passed you by. Don’t give in to the pressures of this life and become overwhelmed by them! You see what he has promised, it’s your job not to let go! The good thing about pressure is that it does not last very long. The best thing is that Christ died to take on that pressure that you may be feeling.
In this Journey of life, we often times get fearful of the road ahead. We get anxious if we don’t know the next step and we even worry we are not going fast enough. God makes everything beautiful in it’s time. So sit back and enjoy the journey and give him your pressure!
