Like many, I’m Sure…I have entered this birthday feeling indifferent. Overwhelmed with gratitude just to be here on this earth. Not feeling too celebratory but extremely grateful. I wish there was more I could say but I wanted to leave my readers with this for the day (hey I know that rhymed)
Some Things I have learned in my 31 years of life…
1. Take Jesus on your Journey:
Best decision I have made to date has been to follow Christ. I move in this life knowing that the big guy has my back and I walk in all kinds of favor. If you are trying to figure out how to do what I’m doing, I’m just a message away! The time we spend with Christ is PRICELESS! This journey of life isn't easy for anyone but traveling it with Christ makes it all worth while.
2. Find your Inner Microphone:
Stepping into our power can be very intimidating. Until we realize we are powerless until we find our voice, the power just lays there waiting to be used. When you find your internal mic, not only will it astonish you but it will others as well. You have nothing to lose by walking in your God given power. Yeah, people may not know how to take this new you but it’s not your job to help them figure it out. Embrace boldness and character. Be completely and unapologetically you!
3. Dance along the way:
Maybe not so much literally for those like me who didn’t inherit the gift of dance. But be colorful with life. Everything is not meant to be taken personally or seriously. Learn to let things roll off of you and enjoy the color and beauty of life. Laugh while you can. We have all seen enough dark days in the past year to last a lifetime. Don’t dwell on them. Acknowledge them and move along.
4. Let the tears fall:
Don’t be afraid to cry. For happy reasons or not so happy ones. Our tears are an outer expression of our internal being. More than tears, the practice of internalization can be toxic to the body and soul. Feel what you must, Put off what you can, and let God handle the rest. Things really do work out as they should.
5. Speaking of Falling:
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. The beauty in life comes through our flawed choices, experiences an more. If you fall, dust yourself off, laugh a little and don’t just get up…RISE. Hold your head high and move on. One day you will be able to pass those beauty marks along as life lessons.
6. Grow at your own Pace
Now, I don't know many 30+ year olds who are single with no children. I have come to learn that this life isn't a competition. I'm in no rush and you shouldn't be either, no matter what phase of life you are in. The life I have is extremely beautiful the way it is. Each of us has our own individual journey to travel. Make it great no matter what road you choose. The beautiful thing is... you chose it!
I know…such a short list? I am sure there are more. To be honest, I am still learning, growing and evolving. Life and God reveals new things to me daily. So I can say, as I come to those realizations, I will continue to bring you along for the ride. Because hey…you have joined me on the 31st chapter of my lifelong journey! Enjoy the ride!
